A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (primarily carbon dioxide and methane) released into the atmosphere by human activities. It is measured in metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) and is used to quantify the direct and indirect environmental impact of individuals, organizations, or products.
